Service Animals (SVAN)

The pets that can be transported under this condition are those that are specially trained to accompany people who need it and travel without the need for a special carrier. 

Service  Animals (SVAN) are considered  to be: 

• Guide dogs that support blind or partially sighted people. 

• Animals that give signals to a person with deafness. 

• Animals trained to alert a person to a seizure. 

• Animals to assist a person with motor disabilities. 

Guidelines

• Only dogs such as  SVAN will be allowed, any other type of service animal will not be accepted (example: pigs, monkeys, miniature horses, etc.)   

• The acceptance of this type of animal is subject to its dimensions. 

• The minimum presentation time at the check-in counter is 2 hours prior to the flight departure. 

• Animals must be at least 8 weeks old. 

• Service animals are expected to behave in public and obey their owner’s commands. 

• The animal must remain seated on the floor in front of your seat throughout the flight. 

• This service does not generate additional charges. 

• There is no time limit on flight hours. 

• The customer is in charge of the animal onboard the plane, including cleaning if necessary, always considering, as far as possible, the physical or motor conditions of the customer. 

• In the rare event that the animal does not behave, we may ask about training the service animal.

 Guidelines

• They are allowed on board as Emotional Support Animals (ESAN): dogs and cats. 

• The maximum weight allowed for the pet is 12 Kg and the maximum measurements allowed for the animal: length x height 56 ​​x 30. 

• Animals must be at least 8 weeks old. 

• The acceptance of this type of animal is subject to its dimensions. 

• The animal may or may not be trained to perform visible functions. 

• The animal must be trained to behave properly in public places, just like service animals. 

• If necessary, the responsibility for cleaning onboard the plane corresponds entirely to the customer.

Animals not allowed as emotional support 

Rodents or any variant of them (mice, rats, hamsters, gerbils, reptiles, and guinea pigs), since no rodents can travel onboard the aircraft. Birds, small pocket animals such as hedgehogs, rabbits, chinchillas, prairie dogs, and ferrets.

Documentation 

A medical certificate not older than 1 year must be presented, indicating the need for the person to travel with the animal due to a disability-related to mental health, and it will also indicate that the client is under the supervision and care of the doctor. 

The certificate must be issued exclusively by a psychiatrist. This must be submitted on letterhead and must include the following information: 

Date of issue, professional license number, and specialty of the psychiatrist. 

Certificates issued by psychologists or by professionals of any other specialty are not accepted. 

All data must be printed on the same certificate. 

A certificate issued by a veterinary doctor, determining that an animal is trained to provide emotional support, is not valid.
