What do Quran and Hadith say about destructive sins?
The torments for sinners are clearly defined in the Holy Quran and Hadith. However, Allah SWT also announces rewards for those who avoid committing major and evil sins. Allah says if we give up major sins, He will forgive our minor evil deeds.
In Quran, it is said: “But if you avoid the major sins which you have been forbidden, We shall remit your (trivial) offences, and cause you to enter an honorable abode (Paradise)”. [4:31]
Hazrat Muhammad SAW forbade Ummah from doing both major and minor sins. However, all the major sins are described in the following Hadith. We will then discuss that accordingly.
The Prophet (SAW) said, “Avoid the seven great destructive sins.” They (the people!) asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What are they?” He said, “To join partners in worship with Allah; to practice sorcery; to kill the life which Allah has forbidden except for a just cause (according to Islamic law); to eat up usury (Riba), to eat up the property of an orphan; to give one’s back to the enemy and fleeing from the battlefield at the time of fighting and to accuse chaste women who never even think of anything touching chastity and are good believers.” (Bukhari 6857).
Shirk
Shirk is a major sin among all coming forth for discussion. Shirk is when someone makes a partner in worship with Allah. It is the worst sin that leads one to Kufr. Allah SWT never forgive those who do Shirk until they repent. Allah says in the Holy Quran, “Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin”. [4:48].
Magic
Suffering your Muslim brother with spelling on them magic is one of the major sins. Hiring the services of a magician who practice magic to fall others into problems are strictly prohibited in Islam. Also, it is forbidden to show something through magic that is not real to deceive the spectators. You can also get the idea from online Pashto course.
Killing someone unjustly
It is a major sin to blow away the blood of Muslim brothers unjustly without any cause. However, there are some justifications for seeking revenge under Islamic laws.
Riba (interest)
Charging interest is Haram in Islam. Those who do business in Usury will face Allah’s displeasure in this life and will suffer from severe torment afterlife. Allah in the Holy Quran says, “Allah destroys interest and increases charities. And Allah does not like every sinning disbeliever”. [2:276]
Consuming property of an orphan
The religion of Islam directs us to care for orphans’ wealth and property. One of the major sins is consuming the property of orphans without the permission of them or their guardians. Allah says in the Holy Quran, “Indeed, those who devour the property of orphans unjustly are only consuming into their bellies fire. And they will be burned in a Blaze.” [4:10]
Fleeing form battlefield
Islam teaches us bravery and persistence. Showing back on a battlefield and fleeing away is a major sin. Rasool SAW strongly warned those who flee and turn their back in fear of death.
Accusing chaste women
Allah SWT warns those who blame and accuse chaste women without any proof. Those who just in their grudge accuse a chaste woman of being in unlawful relation will face a severe penalty in this world and face severe torment on the Day of Judgment.
